John Cunningham Bursary

The John Cunningham Bursary was established in memory of John Cunningham, a lifelong road builder and a leader in British Columbia’s construction industry. It was said that Mr. Cunningham’s biggest passion was to help and develop others.

The John Cunningham Bursary is awarded to students entering or furthering their education in the field of road building and heavy construction. Recipients will receive up to $1000 to be applied to tuition fees and textbooks.

The John Cunningham Bursary is funded by donations from friends and family across Canada.

Who Can Apply

Successful applicants must be:

Enrolled in a recognized training institution
In a construction foundations program or
Level, 1, 2, 3 of an apprenticeship program related to road building and heavy construction
Continuing with their studies in construction
Priority will be given to applicants in Northern British Columbia

Application Dates

The Fund awards two bursaries of up to $1000 during each calendar year.

The Spring Award (1):
• Applications are due March 30th
• Successful applicants will be advised of the award by April 30th

The Fall Award (1):
• Applications are due August 30th.
• Successful applicants will be advised of the award by September 30th

Review Process

Funding applications will be reviewed by Foundation Staff and our volunteer team of advisors.

Final approval will be made by the executive directors of the Foundation Board.
