Mott Electric, VI Construction and Shift Fund approaching deadlines

The Construction Foundation-administered funds for the Mott Electric GP Women in Trades Training Electrical Fund, The SHIFT Driver Training Fund, as well as the Vancouver Island Construction Association’s (VICA) Training Fund are all fast approaching their application deadlines. Each fund assists workers in achieving success as they enter (or prepare to enter) the workforce.

Mott Electric GP Women in Trades Training Fund
Mott Electric GP’s Women in Trades Training Fund supports women entering or continuing education in the electrical trades. Bursaries may be used for tuition fees or textbooks. The recipient will receive up to $1500 to be applied to tuition fees and textbooks. Application deadline is August 30, 2020.

Mott Electric GP’s intention when establishing this fund, was to ensure that women are recognized as valued members of the industry.

The SHIFT Driver Training Fund
Through The SHIFT Fund, the Construction Foundation of BC is pleased to offer Driver’s Licence training grants for youth in care, who have transitioned from care or are classified as at risk. The approximate value of each grant for driver training is $1500. Applications close on the final day of each month.

Funding for the SHIFT Driver Training Fund has been generously provided by the Victoria Foundation, Coast Capital Savings and the Home Depot’s Orange Door Project initiative.

VICA Training Fund
The VICA Training Fund awards training grants to students entering or furthering their education in the construction trades. Recipients will receive up to $1000 to be applied to tuition fees and textbooks. The deadline for this year’s Training Fund has been extended until August 30, 2020. 

The Vancouver Island Construction Association (VICA) is a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of construction investment. The training fund was developed as part of their continued commitment to workforce development.
