Between 2017 and 2025, the SHIFT Fund helped 100’s of at risk youth to reduce barriers and access the tools and training needed to be successful as they enter the skilled trades.

The Shift Driver Training Fund
Through The SHIFT Fund, the Construction Foundation of BC offered Driver’s Licence training grants for youth in care, who had transitioned from care or were classified as at risk.

Who Can Apply
To be eligible to apply for funding, the applicant must:
- be entering into or started on a career in the skilled trades
- have a demonstrated financial need
- be between the ages of 16 and 29
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, convention refugee or CUAET Visa holder
- have obtained or be in the process of obtaining your Learner’s Licence
- currently enrolled in or are planning to enrol in an ICBC-approved driver’s training course
- living in British Columbia
Application Dates
The Fund awards one grant of up to $1500 in March, June, September and December each year.
- Applications are due prior to the first day of the awarding month.
- Successful applicants will be advised of the award by the 15th business day during the awarding month.
How To Apply
Your application to the Timber Wolf Legacy Fund consists of:
- General application form
- Unofficial Transcript & Proof of Registration
- Statement of Personal Goals (100 – 500 words)
- References
Applications are considered ineligible if the training has already been completed.

Review Process
Funding applications will be reviewed by Foundation Staff and our volunteer team of advisors, which is composed of construction industry professionals from across the province. Final approval will be made by the executive directors of the Foundation Board.

By applying, you consent to and acknowledge that the Construction Foundation of BC may share information about the application and/or your organization with our staff, donors, advisors and community partners.
Should you be successful in receiving Driver Training Funding from the Construction Foundation of BC, you consent to and acknowledge that the granting detail will be made public and shared on our website and with the funder.
Note: training must begin within 60 days of receiving confirmation of your successful application.
