July 11, 2024 (Prince George, BC) – A jam-packed, two-day Discover Trades Camp, facilitated by the Construction Foundation of BC (CFBC) took place at St. George’s Ukrainian Church this week in Prince George.
Coordinated by Rev. Andrii Chornenkyi, who organized and also translated for Ukrainian participants, the camp covered electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting. Day one saw campers constructing concrete planters, extension cords and PVC water guns. Day two included the building and painting of bean bag toss boards, as well as mixing concrete.
With ages ranging from six to 14 years old, the atmosphere at the camp was one of the most energetic, according to CFBC’s camp organizer, Lisa Scott.
CFBC thanks EECOL Electric and West Fraser, who were on hand to support the Prince George trades camp with materials (as well as popsicles) for the electrical and carpentry projects, respectively. BC Centre for Women in the Trades were also on hand to lend in-person support to Scott.
