The SHIFT Driver Training Fund provides grants to young people who may not have access to a car or community support in learning how to drive.
Xena, a young wife and mother, heard about the SHIFT Driver Training Fund from her social worker. She had minimal practice using her husband’s truck to gain practical experience while studying the guidebook, but she needed professional training to learn how to be a safe driver.
Xena applied for the SHIFT Training Fund grant and was a happy recipient. She registered for a series of professional lessons immediately. During an update, she shared her excitement about new doors opening because she now has a driver’s licence. She looks forward to newfound independence, driving herself and her new opportunities for work.
